yosemite national park adventure portrait session

If you know anything about us, you know Yosemite National Park is one of our favorite places on Earth. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's directly tied with Moab and asking me to pick one would be like asking someone to pick their favorite kid (I'd imagine). We spent our honeymoon and one year anniversary out here, so being in the valley always reminds us of how thankful we are to be married and have the opportunity to explore the world together.

Obviously, since one of our favorite things to do together is take photos, getting to do this session with Sara and Jaimie was such a dream! We almost didn't get to do it because the day we originally planned to shoot was cold and rainy and we didn't want to hike out to Taft Point only to risk zero visibility and slippery cliff sides, but thankfully we were both able to move things around and shoot the following day when it was a little warmer and there were zero clouds in the sky! We hadn't been to Taft Point before but I knew it was a stunning way to see the valley so I really wanted to check it out. I am so glad we did!! I was almost brought to tears multiple times just looking out over the sheer edges and seeing this new view of the valley from above. El Cap has ever looked so powerful and beautiful! I was blown away.

Sara and Jaimie absolutely killed it and we had so much fun shooting well past sunset in the glowy blue light. We loved exchanging adventure stories with them and giving each other advice for where to go next! As we hiked back in the dark with our headlamps bouncing through the forest I couldn't help but feel completely amazed at how lucky we are to get to do this kind of thing on a regular basis.
